Overview

This relaxed cycling holiday takes you along the Drau River on one of Austria’s most scenic and sun-kissed routes. From the alpine setting of Lienz to the warm, tranquil shores of Lake Klopein, you’ll pass ancient castles, quiet farming villages, wild river landscapes and historic towns rich with character. The route follows a well-maintained and mostly flat cycle path, making it ideal for riders who want to explore at a comfortable pace, so there’s plenty of time to stop at local wine taverns, enjoy Carinthian and Tyrolean specialities, or simply soak up the scenery.

  1. Arrive in the lively town of Lienz, nestled between the Drau River and the towering Lienz Dolomites. With over 2,000 hours of sunshine a year, it’s one of Austria’s brightest and most welcoming spots.
