The best of the Adige cycling route in six days. Starting in South Tyrol, a crossroads of peoples and cultures, you follow the course of the Adige River southward as vineyards and perched castles give way to the olive groves of the Lake Garda area, with an overnight stop in the rural wine village of Ora along the way. Grand finale in Verona, one of the most beautiful cities of art in the Veneto region.
The South Tyrolean Wine Route, the spectacular view of Lake Garda from Passo San Giovanni, and Roman vestiges and Shakespearean memories in Verona all feature on this relaxed, medium-easy route.
Individual arrival and overnight in Bolzano, a famous commercial and tourist centre and a historical and cultural connection between the Italian and German-speaking worlds.
Start riding along the River Adige cycle path, through orchards and the vineyards of the renowned Wine Route. Choose a hilly variant taking in the beautiful Lake Kaltern, or follow the entirely flat bike path along the Adige River to the wine village of Ora.
Ora has maintained its rural charm: stately homes and farms built in a Mediterranean style, with narrow streets bordered by natural stone walls. Cycling towards Trento you reach Salorno, the linguistic border between the German and Italian worlds.
Pedalling along the river Adige you reach Rovereto and Mori, then head westwards towards Lake Garda. After a short ascent, a refreshing descent leads to Torbole and Riva, where a ferry cruise takes you to the southern part of the lake.
Today you head to Verona. With the Adige crossing it, this is one of the most important and beautiful cities in the Veneto region — the Roman Arena, the Church of San Zeno and Juliet's House are all worth visiting.
Departure after breakfast.
We recommend flying to Verona Villafranca (VRN) or Bolzano and returning from Verona Villafranca (VRN).
