Highlights
Great for active riders ready for rolling hills and longer days in the saddle—offering both challenge and beautiful scenery.
Arrive in the lively Bavarian capital and settle into your hotel. Munich’s vibrant blend of culture, green spaces, and traditional beer gardens makes it a great place to begin your journey. Don’t miss the English Garden, Town Hall Glockenspiel, or a visit to the historic Hofbräuhaus.
Your cycling adventure begins through the peaceful Forstenrieder Park and on to the turquoise waters of Lake Starnberg. Ride along the shoreline to Seeshaupt, then wind your way past the Osterseen and Lake Riegsee to reach Murnau, a town full of alpine charm and creative heritage.
Pedal through the Murnauer Moos, the largest intact moorland in Central Europe, rich in flora and birdlife. Follow the Loisach River through tranquil scenery to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. You’ll have time to take the Zugspitzbahn cogwheel train up to Germany’s highest peak, the Zugspitze (2,962 m), for breathtaking views.
Cycle past Klais to reach the serene Barmsee, then choose:
Follow the Isar past Lake Sylvenstein, with its surreal blue waters framed by steep green hills. Ride on through Lenggries and arrive in Bad Tölz, known for its colourful facades and history as a trade hub along the salt route.
Cycle the scenic Isar Cycle Path north through Geretsried and Wolfratshausen, into the forests and gentle hills around Grünwald. After a few short climbs, you arrive back in Munich. Take time to relax, revisit favourite spots, or enjoy a final Bavarian feast.
Enjoy breakfast and either depart or extend your stay to explore more of Munich and its surrounding countryside.
Flights are not included with this holiday, but we recommend flying to Munich and returning from Munich.
