Highlights
Some places reward you for slowing down, and Burgundy is one of them.
This tour is for those who like their days unhurried and full—fine coffee in the morning, a gentle climb through sun-warmed vineyards, a glass of Pinot Noir that tastes even better because you cycled to reach it.
From Beaune to the Côte Chalonnaise and beyond, you’ll follow quiet lanes and rural tracks that open onto one postcard view after another. Hills draped in vines. Still canals lined with towpaths. Farms where Charolais cattle graze without a sound.
Your hotels are little sanctuaries in their own right: peaceful, elegant, and wonderfully welcoming. Each one adds something special to the journey—whether it’s a serene hillside setting, a restaurant that makes you pause mid-bite, or simply a bed that invites deep, happy sleep after a day in the saddle.
If you’ve been craving time away, this is the kind of trip that gently resets you.
Arrive at your own pace and settle into Beaune, the friendly heart of Burgundy wine country. You’ll receive your roadbook and maps when you check in. Spend the evening however you like, wander the cobbled streets, sit outside with a glass of something local, ease into the rhythm of the trip.
Example hotel - Hotel de la Poste
Your first full day begins with a gentle roll south through vineyards you may already recognise by name: Pommard, Volnay, Meursault, Chassagne-Montrachet.
At Santenay, the scenery shifts as you join the Canal du Centre and follow its quiet, leafy towpath.
Your hotel tonight is tucked into peaceful countryside—a rural hideaway cradled by hills and meadows. Dinner is at your leisure, though the onsite gastronomic restaurant is tempting (and can be added with a supplement).
Example hotel - Domaine de Rymska
A gorgeous day of cycling awaits, rolling countryside, open views, and hardly another soul on the road. The ride leads you into the Ouche Valley, where water, woodland, and farmland blend into a wonderfully restful landscape.
Your hotel in Sainte-Sabine overlooks the valley and faces the medieval castle of Châteauneuf-en-Auxois, perched on the opposite hill. Dinner is at your leisure, with the option to upgrade to a gourmet meal onsite.
Example hotel - Sainte Sabine Hotel
A blissfully easy riding day. You follow the Burgundy Canal all the way to Dijon—a flat, gentle route lined with pretty villages and plenty of places to pause.
Spend the evening exploring Dijon’s lively old town and choose a spot for dinner that catches your eye.
Example hotel - Maison Philippe Le Bon
Your final full day brings you back into vineyard country along the famed Route des Grands Crus. Names like Gevrey-Chambertin, Vougeot, Vosne-Romanée, and Chambolle-Musigny accompany you as you ride south toward Beaune.
It’s a day filled with big landscapes, quiet roads, and the deep, earthy scent of the vines. One last night in Beaune, choose your favourite restaurant or stumble upon a new one.
Example hotel - Hotel de la Poste
Enjoy a slow breakfast, a last wander, and begin your journey home, hopefully with a softer mind, fuller heart, and a few bottles tucked safely in your luggage.
We recommend flying to Paris and returning from Paris.
