Highlights
This short escape brings you into the heart of Burgundy, where iconic vineyards, grand abbeys, elegant châteaux and fortified medieval towns shape every day’s ride. You’ll explore the world-renowned wine regions of Chablis and the Auxerrois, and by the end of your journey, you’ll understand exactly why these wines have captivated generations.
Your adventure begins in Auxerre, a city of Art and History with a skyline of Gothic spires, half-timbered houses and riverside charm. From here, quiet roads lead you through peaceful countryside and into Chablis, a village encircled by 19 wine-producing hamlets, each contributing to the famous Chablis appellation. Expect warm welcomes, generous tastings, and a deeper appreciation for Burgundy’s winemaking heritage.

Parking in Auxerre
Meet your local representative for a welcome briefing and bike fitting. If you arrive early, explore Auxerre’s beautifully preserved old town — a Gothic cathedral, Romanesque abbey, 9th-century crypts and narrow medieval streets lined with boutiques and cafés. It’s the perfect introduction to Burgundy’s rich cultural tapestry.

Optional longer route: 61 km (+360 m / –342 m)
A more challenging but rewarding ride through Brienon-sur-Armançon, quiet villages and rolling terrain with sweeping views over the Armançon River Valley before reaching Chablis for the evening.
Overnight in Chablis.

Today’s loop takes you deeper into Burgundy’s vineyards, through Chablis and Irancy to Saint-Bris-les-Vineux. Quiet lanes and pretty villages give way to dramatic views over rolling hills.
Don’t miss the Caves de Bailly, home of Burgundy’s crémant, housed in vast limestone quarries, an atmospheric stop and one of the region’s most impressive cellar visits.
Return to Auxerre along the Yonne Valley and the peaceful Nivernais Canal.
Optional longer route: 62 km (+688 m / –706 m)
A scenic ride via Vermenton and Irancy, with classic Burgundy landscapes and opportunities to pause for tastings and views before gliding back into Auxerre.
