Highlights
Description
This is the slow, proper way to get to know Beaune. Rather than packing up each morning, you'll stay put in one hotel and head out on a different loop ride each day, covering the Cote de Beaune, the Cote de Nuits, and the quieter countryside beyond.
Highlights along the way include the Hotel-Dieu (Hospices de Beaune), Citeaux Abbey, and the vineyard villages of Pommard, Santenay, Chassagne and Puligny-Montrachet, and Meursault. With no bags to repack each night, there's nothing to do but ride, taste, and enjoy Burgundy at its own pace.
Select the tour you are interested in to view the itinerary.
Arrive in Beaune and settle into your hotel for the week. Collect your roadbook and maps and get your first taste of the town, with its cobbled lanes, wine shops and famous patterned rooftops.
A loop ride around the Cote de Beaune, taking in famous vineyards such as Pommard, Meursault, Chassagne and Puligny-Montrachet. Plenty of opportunities to taste and buy along the way. Overnight back in Beaune.
A more challenging loop today, taking in La Rochepot and Baubigny. Visit the village of La Rochepot and its striking chateau before returning to Beaune.
Ride out towards Nuits-Saint-Georges to explore the surrounding vineyards, then return to Beaune by an alternative route. Extend the ride to Clos Vougeot, one of Burgundy's largest single vineyards, if you fancy it, or shorten the day by taking the train back to Beaune.
The longest day of the week, riding to Chateauneuf-en-Auxois, a striking hilltop village overlooking the Cote d'Or and the Bourgogne Canal. Its castle is one of Burgundy's finest pieces of medieval architecture. A little more demanding due to the distance, but well worth it.
A free day to explore Beaune itself: the Hotel-Dieu (Hospices), a walk along the ramparts, the old Mustard Mill, and a choice of cellars for wine tasting. Entirely up to you how you spend it.
A gentler ride out to Savigny-les-Beaune, a small village between the Corton hill and Beaune, with a 14th-century castle that now houses four unusual museums covering racing cars, aviation, motorcycles and wine.
Depart after breakfast.
We recommend flying to Paris or Lyon and returning from Paris or Lyon.

Getting to Beaune (start and end of tour)
By plane: Fly into Paris CDG, which has a TGV station directly in the terminal. There is one direct TGV daily between CDG and Dijon (about 1 hour 55 minutes), then a short regional train to Beaune. Alternatively, take the RER B to Paris Gare du Nord, change to the Gare de Lyon, and pick up the TGV there — allow around 1 hour 30 minutes for the cross-Paris connection.
By train: The fastest connection from Paris to Beaune runs via Dijon and takes around 2 hours 10 minutes, departing from Paris Gare de Lyon. From London, take the Eurostar to Paris and connect from there — total journey time is around 4 to 5 hours. Beaune station is a 15-minute walk from the town centre; there is no taxi rank so arrange a transfer in advance if needed.
By car: Paris to Beaune is around 193 miles and takes about 3 hours via the A6 motorway. Beaune has several free car parks around the town ramparts, and since this tour is based in one hotel for the week, leaving a car here is straightforward.
