This is Alsace paced right down for anyone new to cycling holidays, or just wanting to take this extra slow - short daily distances, gentle terrain, and an itinerary that never asks much of you. Along the route you’ll enjoy Strasbourg, Obernai and Colmar.
Days rarely run past 20km, leaving plenty of time for a detour to a castle, a vineyard stop, or simply a slow lunch in one of the Wine Route villages along the way.
Highlights
Arrive in Strasbourg with time to explore the Gothic cathedral and historic centre.
Follow the Bruche canal towpath through Molsheim to the small town of Obernai.
Ride through the vineyards via Mittelbergheim to Andlau, with the option of a wine tasting or a stop at the Gertwiller gingerbread museum.
A short stage with optional detours to Monkey Mountain, the Volerie des Aigles, or the medieval castle of Haut-Koenigsbourg.
Pass through Bergheim and Ribeauvillé, with a possible stop at the NaturOparc animal park in Hunawihr.
An easy ride via Kientzheim's wine museum to the picturesque village of Eguisheim.
Finish in Colmar, with time to explore Little Venice and the Unterlinden Museum.

Getting to Strasbourg and home from Colmar
By train: Strasbourg station has direct TGV links across France and Germany; regular trains run between Colmar and Strasbourg. By plane: Strasbourg Airport, or Basel/Mulhouse (~120km) and Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden (~60km).
