Getting to Salzburg (start and end of tour)

By plane: Salzburg Airport (SZG) has direct flights from UK airports including London Heathrow and Gatwick with British Airways and Lufthansa, and from several regional UK airports with easyJet and Ryanair. The airport is around 3km from the city centre, with trolleybus connections taking around 25 minutes to the main station.

By train: Flying is the most practical option from the UK. Munich Airport (MUC) is a popular alternative hub, with fast train connections from Munich Hauptbahnhof to Salzburg taking around 1.5 to 2 hours. Munich has excellent direct flight connections from across the UK.

By car: Salzburg is around 1,100km from Calais, taking approximately 10 to 11 hours via the A26 through France, A8 through Germany and the Autobahn into Austria. Munich is around 1.5 hours to the west, making a combination road trip an attractive option.
