Welcome to Salzburg – the city of Mozart, baroque architecture, and lively street cafés. Wander the old town’s cobbled alleys, explore the fortress, or sample local delicacies in a traditional Gasthaus.
Cycle out of Salzburg along the Salzach River, joining the former Ischler railway line past Eugendorf and Thalgau. Soon, the dramatic Drachenwand, a sheer rock face, rises beside you as you arrive at Lake Mondsee, a peaceful lakeside town with a grand castle and local smokehouse.
Today’s ride takes you past the sparkling shores of Lake Attersee, then through the lush Weißenbachtal Valley and onwards into the Trauntal Valley. Stop in Bad Ischl, once beloved by Emperor Franz Joseph, before following the gentle Ischler Ache River to Lake Wolfgangsee. Enjoy a walk through St. Wolfgang, visit the famed Weißes Rössl, or ride the Schafberg cog railway for stunning panoramic views.
Cycle via St. Gilgen and past Lake Fuschl, framed by forested hills and clear mountain air. Continue through the scenic Strubklamm Gorge, ride into the Wiestal Valley, and return to Salzburg via quiet rural paths. Consider stopping at Hellbrunn Palace before finishing your ride in the heart of the city.
After breakfast, depart at your leisure or stay longer to explore Salzburg’s UNESCO-listed old town, fortress, and festive atmosphere.
Flights are not included with this holiday, but we recommend flying to Salzburg and returning from Salzburg.
