Overview

This route links two of Austria’s great cities - from Mozart’s Salzburg to imperial Vienna - with a backdrop of riverside riding, Baroque towns, monastery stops, and scenic bends in the Danube. Think quiet forests, historic squares, and classic Austrian landscapes, plus the odd Trappist beer for good measure. A trip for culture lovers who like to earn their strudel.

Highlights

  • Mozartplatz, Salzburg - Start your journey in Salzburg’s historic heart at Mozartplatz, watched over by the city’s most famous son. From here, wander to the cathedral or head up to Hohensalzburg Fortress for sweeping views across Mozart’s hometown.
  • Schlögener Schlinge - One of the Danube’s most dramatic moments. Near Schlögen, the river hits solid granite and swings sharply back on itself in a perfect 180-degree curve. A natural spectacle you’ll remember long after the ride.
  • Wachau Valley & its Apricots - Welcome to Wachau wine country, a UNESCO-listed stretch known for vineyards, storybook villages like Spitz and Dürnstein, and the region’s pride, sweet, golden apricots. Take your time here: a glass of Grüner Veltliner and a deep breath go a long way.
  • Vienna’s Giant Ferris Wheel - Finish in Vienna with a classic. Built in 1897 to honour Emperor Franz Josef I, the Giant Ferris Wheel in the Prater isn’t just a skyline icon, it's a front-row seat over the city’s rooftops. A fitting final view of Austria’s capital.
