This fully guided 15-day journey takes you the length of India, from the palaces and forts of Rajasthan in the north to the tea plantations and backwaters of Kerala in the south. Comfortable 3-5 star hotels, a domestic flight between the two halves of the trip, and three nights aboard a traditional houseboat combine easy, guided cycling with some of India's most iconic sights.
The trip begins in Delhi before heading into Rajasthan for Jaipur's pink sandstone architecture, a gentle introductory ride through the birdlife of Keoladeo National Park, and sunset and sunrise visits to the Taj Mahal. A domestic flight then carries you south to Kerala, where riding becomes longer and more varied — canal roads and rubber plantations near Kochi, climbing tea-plantation roads around Munnar, and finally three days cruising the Alleppey and Kumarakom backwaters by houseboat.
Rides are short and largely flat to gently rolling (Level 3 of 5), with an English-speaking guide throughout handling transfers, logistics and sightseeing, so the focus stays on the ride and the experience rather than navigation.
Arrive in Delhi and transfer to your hotel with help from the local team. After time to settle in, join your guides and fellow travellers for a welcome dinner. Overnight in Delhi.
Travel to Jaipur, Rajasthan's 'Pink City'. Stop for photos at the lakeside Jal Mahal, then visit a textile workshop for an introduction to traditional block printing. Check in to your hotel and enjoy dinner. Overnight in Jaipur.
A day dedicated to Jaipur's architecture: the intricately screened Hawa Mahal, the hilltop Amber Fort with its Sheesh Mahal (Hall of Mirrors), and the City Palace, still home to Jaipur's former royal family. The afternoon is free to explore the local bazaars at your own pace. Overnight in Jaipur.
Transfer to Bharatpur, stopping en route in Abhaneri to see the striking geometric Chand Baori stepwell. After checking in, take a gentle introductory bike ride through the UNESCO-listed Keoladeo National Park, watching for its rich birdlife. Overnight in Bharatpur.
Cycle through rural farmland and villages to Fatehpur Sikri, a Mughal-era ghost city, before transferring on to Agra. In the late afternoon, visit Mehtab Bagh across the river from the Taj Mahal for a uniquely peaceful view of the monument at sunset. Overnight in Agra.
An early start for a sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal, followed by breakfast and a train back to Delhi. On arrival, explore the markets and highlights of Old Delhi before transferring to your hotel for dinner. Overnight in Delhi.
Fly domestically to Kochi, Kerala - known as 'God's Own Country'. After a scenic transfer to your hotel, join a guided tour of Fort Kochi, taking in the Chinese fishing nets, the historic synagogue and St Francis Church. Overnight in Kochi.
Cycle through the countryside around Kochi along quiet canal roads, past rubber plantations and pineapple groves. After lunch, transfer up into the Western Ghats to Munnar, leaving the coastal plains behind for lush mountain scenery. Overnight in Munnar.
A panoramic ride from your hotel along Lockhart Road and through rolling tea plantations into the Pallisaval Valley. Return to the hotel by midday, then spend the afternoon exploring Munnar's tea plantations, a spice museum and local temples. Overnight in Munnar.
The 'queen stage' of the trip, riding past the scenic Anayirangal Reservoir through Kerala's mountain tea country. After lunch, transfer to Thekkady via a spice plantation near Kumily. In the evening there's an optional traditional Kalaripayattu martial arts performance. Overnight in Thekkady.
Ride quiet country roads past coconut palms, rice paddies and traditional villages, before transferring to Alleppey, gateway to Kerala's backwaters. Board your houseboat - home for the next three nights - and cruise the winding canals and lagoons. Dinner and overnight on board.
An early sunrise from the houseboat deck, then a ride through villages, canals, rice fields and palm groves, visiting a local church and the traditionally styled Ambalapuzha Temple. Return to the houseboat and continue cruising through the lagoon landscape. Dinner and overnight on board.
Ride from the maze-like backwater villages further inland, with a few gentle climbs for variety, before a scenic picnic and a return to the houseboat jetty. Cruise on towards the next anchorage, with time to relax on deck. Dinner and overnight on board.
Disembark the houseboat for your final bike ride, through backwater villages and along the coast, with a stop at Alleppey Beach overlooking the Arabian Sea. Continue to Marari Beach and check in to your resort, with the rest of the day free - perhaps for an introduction to Ayurveda or simply relaxing on the beach. Overnight in Mararikulam.
An early tuk-tuk transfer to a nearby fishing village to watch the morning catch come in and the lively fish auctions that follow. Return for breakfast, then check out around midday and transfer to Kochi Airport for your onward flight home.
We recommend flying to New Delhi (Indira Gandhi International Airport, DEL) and returning from Kochi (Cochin International Airport, COK).

Getting to Delhi (start of tour)
By plane: Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) is India's busiest and best-connected airport, with year-round non-stop flights from many major European cities, including Air India from Frankfurt, Zurich, Vienna, Copenhagen, Paris, Amsterdam, Rome and Milan, Lufthansa from Frankfurt and Munich, Swiss from Zurich, LOT from Warsaw, and British Airways and Virgin Atlantic from London. Flight times from Europe are typically 8-10 hours. The airport is connected to central Delhi by metro and taxi.
By train: Delhi is India's main rail hub, with connections across the country, but for international arrivals air travel is by far the most practical option.
Getting home from Kochi (end of tour)
By plane: Cochin International Airport (COK) has no direct long-haul flights to Europe. Onward connections typically run via a Gulf hub such as Dubai, Doha or Abu Dhabi (Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad and others), or via a short domestic flight to Mumbai, Delhi or Bengaluru for onward international connections. Allow extra time when booking return flights, and note the operator advises against booking a return flight earlier than the afternoon of the final tour day.
Route stability note: verify current routings closer to departure, as Gulf and Indian domestic connections can change between seasons.
