Tour Highlights
Select the tour you are interested in to view the itinerary.
Your journey begins in Pisa, home to the iconic Leaning Tower. After settling in, stroll to Piazza dei Miracoli to admire the Cathedral, Baptistery, and Campo Santo – all part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of this historic university city.
Pedal along the tranquil Serchio River and through the peaceful Pisan countryside to the walled city of Lucca. For a longer route, take a scenic detour past Monti Pisani and Lake Massaciuccoli.
Shorten by train: Option to shorten the ride by boarding in Ripafratta
Ride through rolling hills and past noble villas with manicured gardens. Stop in Collodi, home of Pinocchio’s creator, and visit the famous garden of Villa Garzoni. Continue to Montecatini Terme, a charming spa town with a lively center.
Shorten by train: Optional train from Pescia to Montecatini
Choose a relaxing spa day or take a rewarding loop ride through olive groves and vineyards to Vinci, birthplace of Leonardo. Visit the Museo Leonardiano before cycling back.
Tackle a scenic climb to Montevettolini, then descend to Pistoia, a city rich in medieval and Renaissance architecture. From here, continue through the Arno Valley to the heart of Florence.
Spend the day exploring Florence’s Renaissance landmarks – the Duomo, Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio, and more – or enjoy a short ride through the surrounding hills, past historic villas and olive groves.
To return to Pisa, either cycle from Empoli after a short train ride or ride from Florence to Empoli and then take the train. Follow the scenic Arno River and enjoy views of the countryside and small towns like Montelupo Fiorentino.
Alternative: Ride to Empoli and then train to Pisa
Before you leave, take time to explore more of Pisa: the elegant Piazza dei Cavalieri, the riverside Lungarno Mediceo, or the colorful Keith Haring mural Tuttomondo.
We recommend flying to Pisa and returning from Pisa or Florence.

Hugely enjoyed my week cycling in Italy with friends, booked through Pedal Ventures. This was my first cycling holiday and I found the booking easy and the info received in preparation for the trip very clear and straightforward. We are already looking forward to booking a cycle tour of the French vine country next year!! Thank you for arranging it for us
