The full Grand Tour of Tuscany: a 10-day loop starting and finishing in Pisa that takes in Lucca's Renaissance walls, the spa town of Montecatini, Renaissance Florence, the vineyards of Chianti, medieval Siena, and the walled hilltop village of San Gimignano, with the thermal town of Casciana Terme along the way home.
Tour Highlights
Individual arrival and overnight in Pisa, home to the Leaning Tower and the Piazza dei Miracoli.
A flat ride along the Serchio river into the walled city of Lucca.
Ride through ancient patrician villas to Collodi, home of Pinocchio's creator, and Pescia, before reaching the spa town of Montecatini.
Choose to relax in the thermal town or ride a loop through olive groves and vineyards to Vinci, Leonardo da Vinci's birthplace.
Climb through olive groves to Pistoia, rich in Romanesque churches, or shorten by train, before following the Arno River into Florence, past the Ponte Vecchio.
Ride out through the Tuscan countryside past Grassina, the historic 'Washerwomen's Village', to Greve in Chianti, home of the Chianti Classico Wine Festival.
Pass through the historic villages of Panzano and Radda in Chianti, with an optional detour to Gaiole, home of the L'Eroica cycling race, before reaching medieval Siena.
Follow the ancient Via Francigena past the walled village of Monteriggioni to San Gimignano, the UNESCO-listed town of medieval towers.
Ride through olive groves and vineyards to Casciana Terme, a thermal town with Etruscan roots.
The hills give way to plains as you follow the Era and Arno rivers back into Pisa for the last night of the tour.

Getting to Pisa
By plane: Pisa Galileo Galilei Airport (PSA) has direct flights from UK airports with Ryanair (London Stansted and others) and easyJet (London Gatwick). The airport is right on the edge of Pisa city centre, a 10-minute walk or short taxi ride.
By train: Pisa Centrale station has frequent connections to Florence (around 1 hour). Florence Airport (FLR) is also a practical arrival point, served from the UK by British Airways and Ryanair.
Getting home from Pisa
By plane: as this is a loop tour finishing back in Pisa, direct flights home from PSA to most UK airports, an easy departure from the city centre.
